At Flamborough School, our intent is to provide a firm understanding of what music is through listening, singing, playing, evaluating, analysing, and composing across a wide variety of historical periods, styles, traditions, and musical genres and all children are actively encouraged and given the opportunity to learn and play a musical instrument.
We are committed to developing a curiosity for the subject, as well as an understanding of the importance of all types of music. We want children to feel able and reflective and expressive, developing their own appreciation of music with the opportunities we provide as a school as non music specialists we use the Charanga Musical School Scheme, which provides teachers with week-by-week lesson support for each year group in the school. It is ideal for specialist and non-specialist teachers and provides lesson plans, assessment, clear progression, and engaging and exciting whiteboard resources to support every lesson. The scheme supports all the requirements of the national curriculum.
